Carrier vs Rheem — Where Each One Wins
Rheem is a strong mid-tier value. Carrier is the longer-life premium choice.
Reliability
Carrier wins narrowly. Rheem's quality has improved significantly over the past decade, but Carrier compressors still outlast Rheem compressors by an average of 1–2 years in our service records on the Treasure Coast.
Price
Rheem typically runs 10–15% less than equivalent Carrier installed. For a budget-conscious homeowner or a rental property, Rheem is a defensible choice.
Parts and service
Carrier parts are more widely stocked across HVAC contractors in our market. Rheem parts are available but you'll occasionally see longer wait times for boards and specialty components.
Warranty
Both 10-year parts when registered. Rheem includes a 1-year unit replacement warranty on residential models, which is a nice extra. Carrier's compressor labor warranty programs at the dealer level tend to be more generous.
Our take
Carrier for the long-term home. Rheem for the rental property or the budget-driven replacement. We install both and stand behind both with the same labor warranty.
Maritime Air Co. is an official Carrier dealer on Florida's Treasure Coast.
