Premium variable-speed systems (Trane XV20i, Carrier Infinity 26, Mitsubishi hyper-heat) reach 18+ SEER2 and dehumidify dramatically better. Salt air destroys aluminum fins and copper coil joints. For homes near the coast, we recommend factory coastal coils plus Heresite or Blygold aftermarket coating. Cabinets get powder-coat or marine-grade treatment. It adds material cost; it can also double or triple equipment lifespan.
An oversold installation that ignores leaky ducts can waste 20–30% of the air the new system produces. We inspect duct integrity, return capacity, and static pressure before we quote. Sometimes that means a sealing add-on, sometimes targeted replacement, sometimes nothing — but we look first.
