Goodman markets a lifetime compressor warranty on some models. It's real but limited: it covers the part, not the labor (which can be $1,500+ on a compressor swap), and it's voided by missed maintenance. Carrier's 10-year coverage includes the same limitations but is honored more consistently in our experience.

Build quality

Carrier uses heavier-gauge cabinets, better-quality electrical components, and more rigorous quality control. Goodman has improved significantly under the Daikin ownership (since 2012) but still represents a value-engineered product class.

Lifespan

Carrier averages 14–17 years on the Treasure Coast with maintenance. Goodman averages 10–13 years with the same maintenance. The price difference at installation is real but the lifecycle math often favors Carrier.
