Both are top-tier. Lennox's SunSource and SLP variable-capacity systems are genuinely innovative. Carrier Infinity holds its own with better integration with third-party thermostats on non-Infinity equipment.
The proprietary parts issue
Lennox replacement parts are often dealer-only and only available through Lennox distributors. That means if you're outside a major metro area, you're waiting. Carrier parts are widely available across the HVAC distribution chain on the Treasure Coast.

Lennox installed runs 5–15% more than equivalent Carrier in our market. The premium reflects the brand and the longer parts lead times for service.
Our take
Carrier for the better parts availability and the slightly more competitive pricing. Lennox for homeowners who specifically want Lennox or already have Lennox ductwork matched to a Lennox system.
