Goodman was founded by Harold Goodman in 1975 and grew through aggressive distribution to become one of the largest residential HVAC brands in North America. In 2012 Daikin acquired Goodman and now manufactures Goodman equipment at the massive Daikin Texas Technology Park in Waller, Texas — one of the most modern HVAC plants in the world. The acquisition meaningfully improved Goodman's engineering, controls, and warranty offering.
Goodman's lineup is the GSXC (premium two-stage), GSXV (variable-speed inverter), GSZC (heat pump two-stage), and GSXH (premium single-stage) series, plus the Amana brand for the higher-end channel. Compressors are Copeland Scroll; coils are copper-tube/aluminum-fin with optional Heresite coastal coating.
10–15 years on the Treasure Coast with annual maintenance. Coastal exposure (within 1/2 mile of saltwater) shortens that by 2–4 years without aggressive coil rinsing.
Goodman is everywhere in Treasure Coast rental properties, flips, and budget replacements. Post-2015 Daikin-era Goodman is significantly better than the pre-2012 reputation suggests. Properly installed Goodman runs as long as more expensive brands — installation quality matters more than the badge.
Salt air is the single biggest killer of HVAC equipment on the Treasure Coast. Sodium chloride accelerates galvanic corrosion of copper coil tubing, aluminum fins, condenser fan grills, and even electrical lugs. Maritime Air Co. recommends coastal-grade coil coatings (Heresite, Bronz-Glow, ElectroFin) on any replacement within 1/2 mile of the ocean or Indian River Lagoon, plus quarterly fresh-water condenser rinses. This single practice often doubles outdoor unit life.
Goodman covers SEER2 14.3 through 20. The GSXV variable-speed inverter is a credible Carrier Infinity alternative at a substantially lower price.

Goodman has improved dramatically under Daikin ownership and we recommend it confidently for homeowners on a budget, rental properties, and replacements where the goal is reliable cooling at the lowest honest price. The lifetime compressor warranty on premium tiers is real and we've redeemed it more than once on customer behalf. That said, for a forever home we'd usually steer toward Trane or Carrier — the cabinet build quality and resale value differences are real. Installation quality matters more than the badge: a Goodman installed correctly outlasts a Trane installed poorly every time.
