Why So Many Tradition Homes Have Carrier HVAC Systems

Walk any Tradition neighborhood — Valencia Lakes, Valencia Grove, Valencia Cay, Bedford Park, Cadence — and you'll find Carrier condensers behind the majority of homes. There's a reason: Mattamy Homes, GHO Homes, and the other production builders that developed Tradition standardized on Carrier as their HVAC supplier for most of the build-out.

Builder-grade Carrier — what you actually got

Tradition homes built between 2008 and 2022 typically came with Carrier Comfort Series single-stage equipment — 24ABB3 or 24ABC6 condensers paired with FB4 or FE4 air handlers. Builder-grade installs are functional but rarely include surge protection, premium filter racks, or the extra duct sealing that extends system life. Most are 14 SEER (the old minimum) or 14.3 SEER2 (the current minimum).

What it means for repairs

Standardization is good for homeowners — parts are common, our trucks carry exactly the capacitors, contactors, motors, and boards your system uses. Most Tradition repair calls are first-visit completes.

What it means for replacement

Tradition homes are typically 10–18 years old now. Original Carrier Comfort Series systems are reaching end of life. As a Carrier dealer, we can replace your builder-grade Comfort Series with a current Comfort, Performance, or Infinity system — keeping your house in the Carrier ecosystem you already know and getting you a fresh 10-year warranty.

Maintenance matters more in Tradition

Tradition is inland — no salt air — but it's surrounded by preserve and water features. Lovebug season, pollen, and afternoon thunderstorms all hit Tradition's condensers hard. A twice-yearly tune-up (we do it under Captain's Cooling Club for $229/year) is the difference between 12 years and 18 years on a Carrier system here.

My highest recommendations for Devon and the Maritime Air team — thorough, honest, and on time. They explained everything in plain language and didn't push any unnecessary upsells.

Working with Devon on my HVAC system was a great experience from start to finish. Fair, clean install, and the system has been running perfectly through Florida summer heat.

FAQ

Common Questions

Did all Tradition homes get Carrier systems?+

The vast majority. A few sections (mostly Valencia Cay and later Cadence phases) got mixed-brand installs. Check your model number — Carrier model numbers start with 24, 25, FB, FE, or FV.

Should I replace my old Carrier with another Carrier?+

Usually yes. You already know how the brand performs, parts availability is excellent, and we can upgrade you within the Carrier ecosystem (Comfort → Performance → Infinity) without changing how the house is set up.

What's the typical lifespan of a builder-grade Carrier in Tradition?+

12–18 years with annual maintenance. 8–12 years without it. Most original Tradition Carrier systems are due for replacement now.
