Ruud was founded in 1897 and acquired by Rheem in 1959. Ruud HVAC equipment is mechanically identical to Rheem — same Fort Smith plant, same Copeland compressors, same coils, same EcoNet controls. The brands differ in cabinet color and dealer channel.

Salt-Air Corrosion Considerations

Salt air is the single biggest killer of HVAC equipment on the Treasure Coast. Sodium chloride accelerates galvanic corrosion of copper coil tubing, aluminum fins, condenser fan grills, and even electrical lugs. Maritime Air Co. recommends coastal-grade coil coatings (Heresite, Bronz-Glow, ElectroFin) on any replacement within 1/2 mile of the ocean or Indian River Lagoon, plus quarterly fresh-water condenser rinses. This single practice often doubles outdoor unit life.
