“My highest recommendations for Devon and the Maritime Air team — thorough, honest, and on time. They explained everything in plain language and didn't push any unnecessary upsells.”

Trane was founded in La Crosse, Wisconsin in 1885 by James Trane, a Norwegian immigrant plumber. His son Reuben patented the convector radiator in 1923 and the company grew into one of the world's largest HVAC manufacturers. Today Trane Technologies is publicly traded (NYSE: TT) and operates major manufacturing in Tyler, Texas (residential condensers) and Pueblo, Colorado (commercial chillers). Trane and American Standard residential products share the same chassis, the same Climatuff compressor, and the same Spine Fin coil.
Trane's residential lineup is split into the XV (variable-speed inverter), XL (two-stage), XR (single-stage), and RunTru (value) families. All Trane outdoor units use the proprietary Spine Fin coil — a single continuous aluminum fin spiraling around copper tubes — and the legendary Climatuff scroll compressor.
Trane's premium variable-speed inverter family (XV18, XV19, XV20i) with ComfortLink II communicating controls.

Read more →15–20 years on the Treasure Coast with annual maintenance — typically the longest-lived major brand we service. Coastal exposure shortens that to 10–14 years without aggressive coil rinsing.
Trane is the most common premium brand we service across Stuart, Jensen Beach, Sewall's Point, and the barrier islands. The all-aluminum Spine Fin coil holds up noticeably better than copper-tube competitors in salt environments — this is a real advantage on the Treasure Coast, not marketing.
Trane's all-aluminum Spine Fin coil is genuinely better than mixed-metal coils in coastal conditions because it eliminates the galvanic corrosion couple between copper and aluminum. Even so, salt deposits still load the fin pack and quarterly rinsing is required. Trane offers factory Comprehensive Coastal Coil Coating on Hyperion air handlers and select condensers — worth the $400–$600 upcharge if you're east of US-1.
Trane spans SEER2 14.3 (XR14) through 21.5 (XV20i). The XV20i is a true variable-speed inverter heat pump and one of the quietest systems in production — 54 dBA at rated capacity.
10-year registered parts warranty plus a 12-year compressor warranty on XV and XL outdoor units. Trane offers optional extended labor coverage through the dealer.
Trane is our favorite overall brand. The Climatuff compressor, the all-aluminum Spine Fin coil, and the build quality of the cabinet add up to the most reliable residential platform we service. We recommend XL18 or XL20i for most replacements, XR16 for budget-conscious homeowners who still want Trane-level longevity, and XV20i for whole-home humidity control or homeowners who want the best system available. The upcharge over Carrier or Rheem is real but usually pays back in repair savings over a 15–20 year life.

“Devon has provided thorough maintenance and excellent service. Truly family-owned care — they treat your home like it's their own. Highly recommend for Treasure Coast homeowners.”
“Working with Devon on my HVAC system was a great experience from start to finish. Fair, clean install, and the system has been running perfectly through Florida summer heat.”
Yes, mechanically. Same chassis, same Climatuff compressor, same Spine Fin coil. The cabinet stamping, paint, and dealer channel differ. American Standard is usually 5–10% less expensive for the same equipment.
Yes, in our field experience. We see noticeably fewer compressor failures on Trane than on competing brands across hundreds of service calls per year.
15–20 years with annual maintenance is typical. We regularly service Trane condensers from 2005–2008 still running on original Climatuff compressors.
For most year-round homeowners on the Treasure Coast, yes. The lifespan and reliability advantage offsets the upfront premium over a 15-year ownership.
Capacitors and contactors — same as every brand. Compressors and coils fail at noticeably lower rates than competitors.
Same-day diagnostics, factory parts, honest pricing. Class-A licensed across the Treasure Coast.
